Cypriot-owned general insurer
Motor, home, health and business cover since 1983
Atlantic Insurance Company Public Ltd is a Cypriot-owned general insurer founded in 1983, with its head office in Strovolos, Nicosia. It has been listed on the Cyprus Stock Exchange since 2000 and describes itself as one of the leading general insurance companies in Cyprus.
Atlantic is family-controlled, led by chief executive Emilios Pyrisis, with members of the Pyrisis family across its board. It is registered with the Cyprus Registrar of Companies as HE 20008, incorporated on 19 July 1983. By its own account it serves more than 50,000 customers, offers over 50 products and works with more than 110 agents and collaborators. Those last figures are self-reported by Atlantic, useful for scale but not an independently audited record.
"General insurer" means it writes non-life cover: motor, property, medical, travel and business risks, rather than life or pensions. The Insurance Association of Cyprus lists Atlantic with seven authorised classes, which marks it as a focused general insurer rather than a universal one.
Atlantic runs a physical branch network, with its head office in Nicosia and branches in Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos. That traditional, walk-in model sets it apart from the digital-only insurers in the Cyprus market. As an independent broker, DigiCare can quote you across many Cyprus insurers, Atlantic included, so you compare a strong local insurer against the wider market.
Yes. Atlantic Insurance is one of Cyprus's financially strongest general insurers: a Cyprus-Stock-Exchange-listed public company supervised by the Superintendent of Insurance, reporting a solvency ratio of 249% at the end of 2024, a record 2025 profit of 20.3 million euros, and an uninterrupted dividend every year since 2019.

These figures come from Atlantic's published financial results. A solvency ratio of 249% means the company holds roughly two and a half times the capital its regulator requires, which is the clearest single signal that an insurer can pay claims even in a bad year. Shareholder equity grew from 38.6 million euros in 2019 to 81.1 million euros in 2025, and the dividend rose every year across that period.
Cyprus Stock Exchange lists Atlantic as a public company, and the Superintendent of Insurance supervises the solvency of every licensed Cyprus insurer.
A financially strong insurer is only half the decision. As a broker, DigiCare weighs Atlantic's strength against other insurers' prices and terms, and stays on your side at claim time, so you get both security and value.
Motor insurance is Atlantic's flagship line. It sells a five-step ladder, from the legal minimum up to its top Comprehensive Executive policy, and every motor policy includes free 24-hour road assistance and accident care through the Atlantic Rescue Line.

In Cyprus, third-party liability motor insurance is mandatory under the Motor Vehicles (Insurance and Civil Liability) Law of 2000 (Law 96(I)/2000), with statutory minimums of 38.6 million euros for bodily injury and 1.3 million euros for property damage per claim. Every legal insurer, Atlantic included, must be authorised by the Insurance Companies Control Service, and the Motor Insurers' Fund of Cyprus compensates victims of uninsured or untraced drivers.
Atlantic's top Comprehensive Executive tier adds eleven benefits, including personal accident cover up to 60,000 euros, unlimited windscreen glass that does not affect your no-claims bonus, No Claim Bonus Protection, natural-perils cover and a replacement hire car for up to four weeks. Exact terms sit in the policy document, so always read the IPID for your quote.
Atlantic does not publish fixed motor prices; you get a tailored quote. As a Cyprus market guide, third-party-only cover starts from about 180 euros a year, and full comprehensive typically runs 400 to 750 euros a year. A directory that tracks Cyprus insurers describes Atlantic as competitively priced.

Your premium depends on your age, the country that issued your licence, your no-claims history, your vehicle group and where you live. The cheapest quote is not always the best value: check the excess (the part of a claim you pay yourself), the exclusions, the glass limit, the road-assistance cover, and whether documents and claims support come in English. Atlantic also gives a multi-policy discount if you insure a second car or your home with it.
