Owners see the same order. In a YBW forum thread from March 2024, one owner wrote that whether UK insurers would offer cover seemed to depend on where the policyholder lived rather than where the boat was berthed.

For a boat kept in Cyprus, third-party cover starts from €25 a year for a small motorboat. Hull cover typically costs 1 to 3% of the insured value a year, so a yacht insured for €100,000 costs about €1,000 to €3,000 a year for full cover. A policy can combine third-party liability, hull and machinery, and optional extras.

When something goes wrong: how a claim runs when cover is arranged through an agency
Claims are handled by the insurer named in your policy documents, not by DigiCare. The steps below cover most incidents.
Make the boat safe, then record the damage: photos, the log entry, the time and the position.
Notify the claims contact printed in your policy documents as soon as you can.
The insurer's claims team arranges the survey, decides the claim and pays it.
Who decides and pays: the insurer named in your policy, not the agency.
Three things that can sink a claim• Sailing outside the cruising area agreed in your policy.• A skipper licence that differs from what you declared. A 2020 Piraeus first-instance judgment (no. 2577/2020) dismissed an owner's claim on a boat insured for €70,000; the dispute turned on the skipper's licence details as declared. It is one first-instance case, not a precedent.• Use you did not declare, such as living aboard or chartering the boat out.
What a total loss pays depends on whether your policy uses an agreed value or a sum insured, so check which one your schedule shows.
