In Cyprus, AIG operates through AIG Europe S.A. (Cyprus Branch). The underwriting legal entity is AIG Europe S.A., a Luxembourg société anonyme registered as RCS B 218806 and supervised by the Commissariat aux Assurances (CAA), Luxembourg's insurance regulator. The Cyprus branch is hosted by the Insurance Companies Control Service (ICCS) under Cyprus law and is a full member of the Insurance Association of Cyprus, licensed across 18 classes of insurance — from motor and home through marine, aviation, credit, legal expenses and assistance.

AIG's private auto policy explicitly does not exclude driving in the occupied areas of Cyprus, which most Cyprus motor policies do exclude. For Nicosia residents who cross the Green Line, business owners with operations on both sides, or expats who travel north for any reason, that single clause is often the deciding factor. If AIG's response is not satisfactory, the next step is the Financial Ombudsman of the Republic of Cyprus at 15 Kypranoros Street, 1061 Nicosia (phone 22 848 900). The Ombudsman handles consumer complaints against Cyprus-supervised insurers and intermediaries.
